CHELSEA BEDROOM PROJECT: PHASE ONE
The past couple of days have been so hectic, I can't even tell you what day it is. I like to focus on the first layer, the main pieces. Lucky for us, our latest client already has style, we are just here to guide her with the best possible solution for her bedroom. Here are some of the solutions we are focusing on:
Take advantage of the height, the ceiling is 11' high!
There is one center window on one wall and we want to add storage and shelving from top to bottom, giving her the appearance of custom built-ins. Yet, if the day ever comes where she is ready to move on and move out, she can take these with her to her new home. Some great ways to make inexpensive shelf systems look expensive are to add a mirror back, painting the insides a different color, or adding gold or silver leafing to it. This design also provides more storage, and you know every city girl needs more closet space.
Mirrored insert behind shelves make the room look larger.
I'm loving the contrast between the black and white.
Why not go the extra mile and add gold or silver leaf, the result is incredible.
Find ways to organize and display the fabulous jewelry collection.
These acrylic necklace and bracelet displays are great ways to show off your jewelry.
Who said you have to put books on bookshelves.
Why not some art...
Or display a collection of funky objects...
Or even fancy barware. Night cap anyone?

CHELSEA BEDROOM PROJECT
We have just started a project in the city and wanted to share with all of you a few of our ideas from our design presentation...
Here is the floorplan. J (I'll keep her anonymous) wants to change up almost everything except for her night stands which are a pair of gorgeous "Old Hollywood" mirrored chests. So we need to help her with a headboard, lamps and possibly a console. J also has very high ceilings (at 11 feet high), and a really large centered window, so we had an idea to do a little IKEA customizing with some Billy bookcases, to flank either side of the windows.
Headboard inspiration: We want the upholstered headboard to pop off her rosy tinted walls, so we are looking into a grey fabric for the headboard with white linens and pops of colors in the pillows.
Lamps: The gold options are looking like the front runners right now :)
And here is our photoshop interpretation of what the Billy bookcases would look like backed with mirror and topped with some additional lighting. We also gave her the option of going taller and also adding doors for some hidden storage. A parsons like console would rest in the middle with a stool underneath so J can sit and get ready for a night out on the town.
Console options for the far wall in front of her bed. Instead of the mirror we are going to go for artwork.
Can't wait to get this project started!!

ART: ITS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Personal style can be shared by many people but I think personal taste in art can go way deeper. Everyone has a different reason why they love a piece, and like Jackson Pollock's work either you like it or you don't. Perhaps there is a personal reason that strikes you with the subject, or its content makes you laugh or even cry. Maybe there was something happening in your life at the time that really helped you relate to that certain piece. Whatever the reasons, art can take your interiors to a whole different personal level, and thats what makes you unique.
It seems fitting since Fat Tuesday just passed yesterday that I tell you about the custom Mardi Gras bead art that I am having made! Here is an example of the artists work below, but instead of diet coke (which I rarely drink) I'm having him construct a swanky bottle of Veuve Cliquot champagne. I know I know, I'm classy like that ;) Check out artist, Rob Corley's shop desertjuan on Etsy.
This photograph just makes me smile, and its perfect for the loo.
Steph just sent me a link to talented pet photographer Seth Casteel's site Little Friends Lifestyle Photography, and I fell in love with these hysterical photos of dogs jumping into the water.
As you can see I have a thing for humor and/or texture using different mediums, like collage. And this bottle cap art by Molly B Right has always struck me as breathtaking. I wrote a post on the artist last year, check here.
Saw this idea on Pinterest with big designer name shopping bags. Genius, and adorable for that walk-in closet of course.
Again with my love for texture. Here is lingerie pressed into velvet fabric and then framed by Aviva Stanoff.
Simple and graphic. Love the script. Besides all that the word describes me perfectly.
And of course I had to mention Sagittarius Gallery on Etsy again because her abstract nudes are amazing and I think I need another painting of hers.
So that's my kooky taste in a nut shell. :)

ALEXANDRA VON FURSTENBERG'S MODERN ACRYLIC FURNITURE
Alexandra Von Furstenberg is not exactly new to the home products scene, but I felt that I owed her a post for her amazing designs. She is the daughter of design legend, Diane Von Furstenberg, but as you can see by her modern acrylic pieces she seems to have a knack for it as well. I'm loving this desk shown in the picture below with Alexandra and her mother.
Cocktail Table
Vases
Candy Bowls
Console
Side Tables
Desk
And my favorite, her neon trays. I have seen them used in countless window displays across New York City. Love!

ADVENTURES & TRAVELS: Tory Burch NYC Store
Nicole and I visited NYC Saturday afternoon and decided visit the Tory Burch store, and WOW was it more stunning in person than the photographs. It was better than any Kips Bay Showhouse Tour, but it was free (minus the $20 there and back cab fair). Every room truly does feel like a Jewelry Box. The salespeople must have thought we were insane because we were taking photos and drooling over everything that wasn't for sale. Please excuse some of the blurry cell phone pictures below, we were shaking from all of the excitement.
The infamous brass stair railing alone was worth the hour commute.
I need this jewelry display case for my future walk in closet!
All of the walls are upholstered in fabric.

UPPER WEST SIDE PROJECT
I have been working under Valerie Grant, of Valerie Grant Interiors in Summit, for about 2 months now and I couldn't be happier. Love the job and all it entails. Valerie really lets me collaborate with her and share ideas. My first client project with her has been for a young modern couple on the Upper West Side of New York City. It is a rental so there won't be any renovation but we have recently specified almost all the furniture for the entire apartment and I have been using my photoshop skills to WOW my new boss and her clients, hopefully!
This is just a sampler of the look we are going for in the entryway. Very sophisticated modern with hints of gold. We are hoping to have the client maybe do some bold wide stripes down the one wall where the console will be to add a little flava (of course it will be the only area we will suggest paint, being that they don't own the space). I know its a long way from now but I can't wait for the finished product! What do you think?
