BATHROOM OF THE WEEK: Marble Herringbone Flooring

So, I almost fell off my chair when I came across these photos of this master bath. For starters, you enter through two doors upholstered in leather and finished with chrome nail trim, but the best part is that you're greeted by the most gorgeous marble herringbone flooring. I know I have a love for all things chevron patterned but this is the most sophisticated rendition I have ever seen. If this was my bathroom, I don't think I would ever get tired of walking through the doors.

CURRENT OBSESSION: TANGERINE ORANGE

I finally got my orange and black pacific connections lacquer boxes and they are exquisite of course, but I'm quickly realizing that I haven't gotten enough of my tangerine fill just yet because I keep pinning everything of that sort to Pinterest lately. It seems to be everywhere, from little pops of tangerine delightfulness with bases of navy and chocolate brown to full on rooms of bright fantastic tasteful Hermes orange. Don't even get me started on the amount of gorgeous front door pins I required that feature bright tangerine hues. I've noticed the color also goes really well with flame red and blush pinks, a lovely and fashion forward color blocking scheme if you will.

Oh these doors are to die for. Seriously! I'm not kidding...

Tory Burch again. God I love this woman!

Tangerine bookcases...

See how amazing pops of tangerine look with navy. I rest my case.

ANTIQUING IN ASBURY PARK

The more I experience and learn about the design business the more I feel like I know what to look for when rummaging through local antique stores. It's usually at these kind of stores that I find the most unique pieces for my home at great prices.

Steph and I were recently in Asbury Park and Red Bank, NJ, this weekend looking through some really amazing stuff. Check out what we found...

Some really amazing inlay boxes...

A black and white bone bar accessory set...

A bunch of these crazy crystalline rocks...

 Some crazy brass wall art

a pair of mid century modern lucite candle sticks...

A gorgeous mirror...

This to die for mother-of-pearl set of mini forks and knives. Assumed to be for seafood...

Two very rare and exotic framed butterflies....

And a giant cast resin crocodile head with gold teeth!!! So COOL!!

There was so many more gorgeous things that we saw but I couldn't document it all. Have you ever scored any rare finds from your local antique store?

DIY: Fabric Corkboard

Over time we've been collecting inspiration photos from magazines, fabric samples from showrooms, and business cards that have been piling up, and needed a way to display them all to stay focused on the growing biz. We've decided to make our own fabric covered corkboard inspired by Bryn Alexandra Interiors Blog. We didn't follow her guidelines exactly (we didn't use any spray adhesive) but it ended up looking gorgeous anyway!

*UPDATE* Here is the final project below:

So, what do you think of the end result?

MODERN MAD MEN SOPHISTICATION

I'm working with an amazing new designer currently, and she just got a new project working with a fabulous couple on the upper west side of New York City. They have an amazing apartment that has been recently finished with a nod to modern lines. Including zebra wood cabinetry and gray blue glass tiles, sleek hardwood floors and large open windows. However, they do not own the apartment yet so it is strictly just furnishing and accessorizing. Fine by me! :)

Taking a cue from the look of the apartment I thought it might be nice to take a modern day "Mad Men" approach. Taking the ugly muted colors out of that 60's look but keeping the clean lines and warm wood tones while adding hints of glamour like antique brass and edgy crystal ceiling fixtures.

The entry, kitchen, dining room and living room are all open to each other so I thought some of these case pieces could work nicely together with the Elite Leather sofa that my boss envisioned floating in the living room. The custom wrap around sofa table would hold the Elkins table lamps by Visual Comfort and be perfectly matched to the Morgan Entertainment Cabinet that would store all the owners high tech electronics. Tall Emerson et Cie wood and brass etageres would flank either side of the media cabinet bringing the eye up to there 10 foot high ceilings. Lucite and geometric rugs break up all the wood and art by Rodger Camp reflects the owners passion for triathlons.

I think the set designers of Mad Men would be quite impressed.

BLACK, GOLD, AND A HINT OF PINK

We are about to embark on a new project for the year, the client is a young professional who describes the look she would like to capture for the room as "new old hollywood glamour.' She wants the space to feel lavish and swanky every time she walks into her bedroom. The colors we envision for the room are black, gold, and pinky corals..whats more luxurious than that fabulous color combination?
